The Arizona Diamondbacks were coming off their first homestand taking three from the Giants. There say home would be short as they would take a short plane ride to San Diego to visit the Padres. After going 1-7, Arizona found themselves playing .500 ball and going 7-1. Can the winning ways continue?
Game 1
Dbacks 6
Padres 4
One thing the Dbacks have been doing well is scoring in the early innings. After the first three, Arizona were up 5-1, lead by a 2-run home run by “Ottomatic” Otto Lopez and a solo shot by Gavin Sheets. Dansby Swanson did hit a solo shot in the first inning for San Diego. Brendan Donovan would hit a solo shot in the 7th for the snakes. Meanwhile, the Padres would score runs in the 6th, 7th and 8th inning, with Manny Machado, Ty France and Dansby Swanson (his 2nd of the game) making it a 6-4 game. David Bednar would shut the door for the Dbacks to pick up the win.

Game 2
Dbacks 6
Padres 4
Brendan Donovan would continue the first inning scoring surge hitting a 2-run bomb for Arizona. San Diego would tie the game in the bottom of the first with 1-run singles by Dansby Swanson and Manny Machado (special note: Manny was not happy that he made the Who’s Not list and reports were he took that personally). Padres would make it a 3-2 game in the 7th on a 1-run Trent Grisham triple. That would bring us to the 9th. Miguel Andujar would slap a 1-run single to tie the game and with two men on, Otto Lopez would step to the plate and smash a 3-run home run, making it 6-4 Dbacks. David Bednar would come back out and record his 2nd save of the night and another dub for Arizona.

Game 3
Dbacks 8
Padres 0
This game was all Dbacks. Starting pitcher Michael King would strike out six and give up one hit in five innings of work, handing it to the bullpen to hold on to the shutout. The Padres would only muster three hits and six total men on base. Arizona would get a Jakob Marsee solo home run and Gavin Sheets would have a 2-double day while driving in two runs for the victory.

Game 4
Padres 5
Dbacks 2
Arizona would jump out to a 2-0 lead on RBI’s from Gavin Sheets and Miguel Andujar in the 4th inning. San Diego would cut it to 2-1 on a Manny Machado solo home run. Padres would tie the game in the 7th on a Luke Maile home run. In the 8th inning, it would be a pinch hit 3-run double by Matt Vierling to break the tie and give the Padres a 5-2 lead and keep the series from being a sweep.

This was a very good series and Dbacks had all the rolls this time around. Arizona is now 11-9 and 10-2 in their last 12 games. Padres have now fallen to .500 after being dominant early, but sub-positive outcomes against the Dodgers and Dbacks have them on the slide.
