Many fans in the KPSL are scratching their heads with the recent deals the Billy Ackerman led Giants have done in a period of days. After unloading pitcher Zach Wheeler to the Dodgers for some massive picks, they work with the Reds on another massive deal.
Here is the deal:
Giants trade Logan Webb, JT Realmuto, and Giants 9th and 14th round picks to the Reds for Corbin Burnes, Patrick Bailey, and the Reds 1st and 4th round picks.
Webb is another stud pitcher would a Giants team that has had some of the best rotations in the KPSL the past few seasons. Also moving is catcher JT Realmuto, who is still one of the top catchers in the league. Giants do get a younger and good defensive catcher in Patrick Bailey and pitcher Corbin Burnes returns to San Francisco in this deal. Giants also land another first round pick in the process.
We are not sure what the Giants are thinking, but it is odd for a team to be selling off players this early, especially a team that was projected as one to make the playoffs for another season. We will see how these moves will put the Giants moving forward.
