Padres Take Three From Dodgers: Machado Stays Hot For SD, Ohtani Hits First KPSL Home Run

Padres and Dodgers played a Sunday morning series online.

Padres pick up 2 in the first on doubles from Nootbar and Grichuk. Friars explode in the 4th with 6 more runs capped off by a Lars Nootbar 3 run blast. Padres shut down the Dodgers holding them to 2 hits in a bullpen game.

Ohtani hits a 2-run homer in the first which is more than enough as Yamamoto silences the Padres bats.

Top of 2nd Goldschmidt hits a 2 out double followed by a James McCann double to score. Dodgers answer with an Austin Riley leadoff double he’s driven in by Jackson Merrill with 2 outs to tie the game in the bottom of the 2nd.

Top of the seventh Nico Hoerner gets a single, he steals 2nd, and Herrera throws the ball away allowing Hoerner to take 3rd. Matt Vierling drives him in to take the lead.

Padres bullpen shuts down the Dodgers to hold on for a 2-1 win.

Padres score 1 in top of first. Bottom of the 1st Dodgers get 3 off of Jackson Merrill 3 run Homer. Dodgers get another with a James Wood solo shot in the 2nd. Padres cut the lead in half with a Manny Machado homer in the top of the 4th.

Top of the sixth a Herrera passed ball moves runners to 2nd & 3rd; James McCann comes up with a big hit to tie the game.

Padres and Dodgers both strand runners in scoring position over the next 3 frames, sending the game into extra innings. Randall Grichuk hits a solo shot off of Vesia in the top of the 10th.

Fun series, thanks to Josh for playing early. I’ll enjoy first place for now, even though in now it won’t be long. With the series win, the Padres are 7-1 to start the season, while the Dodgers are 2-6. It's still early in the season and the Dodgers still have plenty of time to bounce back.
