I love series writeups and I felt bad that I had not done one yet. So let's give some love to the series Tuesday night between a pair of teams with multiple KPSL titles! Rockies at Giants....here we go!
GAME 1
Rockies - 5
Giants - 2
The Rockies erected a picket fence. We scored one run in every odd-numbered inning - 1,3,5,7,9! That would have us on a pace to a 5-0 shutout behind Nick Martinez, but Juan Soto ruined that with a two-run bomb off of Caleb Thielbar in the 9th! Still, a good-looking game for the guys in purple.
Starters - Martinez and Sale
WP - Martinez LP - Sale SV - Pagan HR - Tatis, Garcia, Soto
GAME 2
Rockies - 4
Giants - 6
The Rocks would get 2 in the 1st and go 4-0 but the 5th, but by 3 hitters into the bottom of the 5th it was 4-3 thanks to a Corey Seagar 3-run homer! And the G-men would tie it before the 5th was over, then score single runs in the 7th and 8th, and let up NOTHING more.
Starters - Ray and Burnes
WP - Burnes LP - Casparius SV - Banks HR - Lee, Gurriel, Seager
GAME 3
Rockies - 3
Giants - 5
The Rocks scored ALL of their runs in this one in the 1st, using four hits and a walk to jump ahead. And then...crickets. The Giants meanwhile plated 2 in the 4th, and then slayed Martin Perez with 3 in the 5th thanks to a walk, a Jake Burger triple(!!) and a 2-run Ian Happ bomb. Johan Oviedo and 4 Giants relievers held strong.
Starters - Perez and Oviedo
WP - Oviedo LP - Perez SV - Banks HR - Happ
GAME 4
Rockies - 6
Giants - 4
Bubba Chandler looked like he might glide the Giants to a series win, but the Rocks woke up after 13 scoreless innings in the 6th, and dropped 6 runs on Bubba and the pen in the 6th and 7th. The Rockies bullpen definitely TRIED to give it back, but they failed to fail.
Starters - Glasnow and Chandler
WP - Thielbar LP - Chandler SV - Pagan HR - Tatis, McMahon
Thanks Billy for a great series, and for gifting me a "Did you Strat today" mug that I drank my coffee out of this morning!
Rcoks 4-4. G-men 2-2.
