Dbacks Sweep Giants In Strong Performance At Home

The Arizona Diamondbacks were facing the San Francisco Giants and had started the second half with an eight-game losing streak. Not exactly what you are trying to do if you want to catch a playoff spot. While the Giants were in a better position, they are unsure of where they stand in the playoff picture. So, this series meant something to both teams. The Dbacks walked into San Fran and took 3 of 4 in their first meeting. How would they fare in this matchup?

Game 1

Dbacks 5   Giants 3

Dbacks for strike first thanks to Giants lefty David Peterson loading the bases and then walking Miguel Andujar to give Arizona a 1-0 lead in the first. Giants would score three runs to take the lead thanks to a 2-run home by Juan Soto and a solo shot by Trea Turner. The Dbacks would fire back in the bottom of the 5th, led by a 2-run home run by Miguel Andujar to give them a 4-3 lead. They would add an insurance run in the 8th to seal the victory by a score of 5-3.

In the meantime, Soto and Ty France would lead the way hitting home runs to put the Giants up 3-1. It was up to the San Fran pen, and they would implode in the 8th. Six hits and five runs later would make it a 6-3 game. The Dbacks pen would pitch 3 2/3 innings of shut out ball to seal the deal in game two.
