Get Some Water Ice: Rockies Stay Hot With Big Series Win Over Giants

There has been a lot of speculation on what the heck has caused the Rockies 24-8 second-half performance:
LEAST LIKELY - Smart management and a quality team
SOMEWHAT LIKELY - The "Lori Bathurst Water Ice theory" - That the good fortune extends to late in the first half of the season, when Lori showed up with chocolate water ice and reversed our luck.
LEADING THEORY - That Ed's purple shirt, with attached logo on the back, has magical powers. I've always been too cheap to buy a purple Rockies shirt. Could this free purple garment be the key that unlocks our dreams?
Anyway, the Giants came over with Tim Horton's donuts for a Sunday morning series. The purple shirt was there...
GAME 1
Rockies - 8
Giants - 3
The Rocks scored first and scored often, with a five-run 4th inning being the key, aided by a tragic Gimenez error that opened the floodgates. Charlie Morton was ridiculous...going 8+ innings for the first time this season, and allowing just one. Erik Miller would allow 2 more, but we cruised.
WP - Morton LP - Webb HR - Happ
GAME 2
Rockies - 0
Giants - 3
The Giants came right back, using 5 hits in the first to grab a 2-0 lead, and then putting the Rocks offense on ice for the game. We got 6 hits, but struck out 11 times and stranded 10 runners. Chris Sale...well....sailed.
WP - Sale LP - Steele SV - Scott HR - none
GAME 3
Rockies - 6
Giants - 3
Best game of the series. Giants plate 3 in the first, but would get just 5 more baserunners over the next 8 frames off of Landen Roupp and 3 Rocks relievers. Will Smith would wake up from a long sleep and belt a pair of 2-run homers to power the Rocks (1-8 shot and a 1-1 shot!).
WP - Roupp LP - Wheeler SV - Jimenez HR - Pederson, Smith (2)
GAME 4
Rockies - 4
Giants - 0
Jose Butto returns from the minors to make a start...and boy did he! Butto goes 7 2/3, and only let up a hit in the 8th! For the third time this year, the Rocks take a no hitter past 7 frames! Two of Butto's three walks were eliminated on double plays, and this one felt safe when Matt Olson hit a 3-run bomb in the 7th. The only buzzkill were Pederson (8gms) and Tatis (7gms) injuries!
WP - Butto LP - Ryan HR - Olson
Rockies are 45-31 and set to take on the Buccos Thursday. Giants are 40-36. Thanks to Billy for coming over and rolling. Mooo!
