The cut down list was in full effect as teams were required to get their teams down to 25 men heading into the March 20 draft.
It didn't come without some drama, as this was also the last time trades could be made before the draft. Before we get to the cut list, let's see the deals that took place:
3/4/2025 | Nationals-Reds | Nationals trade Eugenio Suarez, Nationals 3rd round pick (#31) and Reds 10th round pick (#118) to Reds for Seiya Suzuki, Diamondbacks 4th round pick (#39) and Reds 11th round pick (#130) |
3/4/2025 | Nationals-Braves | Nationals trade Jose Quintana and Nationals 2nd round pick (#19) to Braves for Miguel Rojas and Braves 2nd round pick (#16) |
3/5/2025 | Nationals-Phillies | Nationals trade Max Scherzer and Nationals 15th round pick (#175) to Phillies for Padres 11th round pick (#129) |
3/6/2025 | Reds-Phillies | Reds trade Javier Assad, Jordan Lawlar, Phillies 4th round pick (#47) and Reds 15th round pick (#178) to Phillies for Brian Hoeing, Michael Tonkin, Phillies 3rd round pick (#35) and Padres 12th round pick (#141) |
3/6/2025 | Cardinals-Nationals | Cardinals trade Chris Bassitt and Diamondbacks 8th round pick (#86) to Nationals for Nationals 7th round pick (#79) |
3/6/2025 | Rockies-Brewers | Rockies trade Zac Veen and Rockies 12th round pick (#140) to Brewers for Nationals 11th round pick (#127) |
3/7/2025 | Pirates-Diamondbacks | Pirates trade Miguel Andujar and Pirates 11th round pick (#132) to Diamonbacks for Sam Hilliard and Braves 3rd round pick (#28) |
3/8/2025 | Rockies-Braves | Rockies trade Bryce Jarvis and Rockies 15th round pick (3176) to Braves for Braves 10th round pick (#112) |
3/8/2025 | Dodgers-Nationals | Dodgers trade Padres 2nd round (#21), Dodgers 5th round (#49), and Dbacks 7th round (#75) picks to Nationals for Rockies 3rd round (#32), Nationals 4th round (#43), and Nationals 5th round (#55) picks. |
3/9/2025 | Reds-Phillies | Reds trade Michael Harris, Spencer Strider, Henry Davis, and Reds 10th round pick (#118) to Phillies for Mookie Betts, Joey Bart, and Phillies 12th round pick (#143) |
3/9/2025 | Phillies-Cardinals | Phillies trade Alec Burleson and Diamonbacks 14th round pick (#159) to Cardinals for Cardinals 5th round pick (#54) |
3/9/2025 | Cardinals-Rockies | Cardinals trade Michael Grove and Diamondbacks 14th round pick (#159) to Rockies for Rockies 13th round pick (#152) |
The biggest of these deals was the Phillies moving Mookie Betts to the Reds for Michael Harris. One of the stranger deals was between the Nationals and Dodgers where only draft picks moved, but one that puts the LA team with all 15 picks in the first five rounds.
