Phillies Move Pieces But Still Picking Up Wins: Take 3 From Dodgers

Phillies decided to start the rebuild early, shocking as it may seem for a team that is a perennial contender.  Gone are Lindor, Bohm, DeGrom the stud bullpen of Strahm, Morejon and Diaz.  In a bunch of no name relievers and suspect starters.  In come the Dodgers and their26-14 record 1 game out of first and looking strong. 

 

 

GAME 1

MacKenzie Gore vs Quinn Preister

Dodgers bats get to MacKenzie Gore for 4 runs in the 3rd inning the big blow a Shohei Ohtani 3 run homer. Bryson Stott gets the Phillies on board with a double, steal third and scampers home on a passed ball.  In the 4th Stott ties the game with a two run double.  Gore settled inning and held the Dodgers scoreless for 3 more innings.  Bryce Harper hits a two out two run homerun in the 7th Jose Altuve adds a solo shot in the 8th and Kyle Leahy makes it stand up.

GAME 2

Ranger Suarez vs Shohei Otani

Ranger Suarez throws a complete game 2 hitter while striking out 9 with zero walks.  His only mistake was a Ryan O’Hearn homerun.  Shohei struck out 9 thru 4 innings, he left in the 5th with two runners aboard. Enter Arodolis Chapman first Pitch to Michael Harriss, boom three run homerun.  That was all Ranger would need

GAME 3

Eduardo Rodriquez vs Drew Rasmussen

A pitchers duel broke out (Naturally) Rodriquez goes 6 allows 5 hits 6 strikes and 2 runs, while Rasmussen goes 6 allow 4 hits and  runs.  Kyle Leahy gives up a run on a Double by James Wood which sent Hunter Goodman to the third and later scored on a Sac Fly by Andy Pages. (Missed Ballpark 1-14) Jason Adam and Mason Miller made the run stand up.

GAME 4

Mike Libertore vs Chris Bassitt.

Another pitchers duel.  Mike Libertore throws 7 shutout innings (extending his shutout streak to 14) Chris Bassitt throw 7 2/3 innings allowing 1 run.  The Phillies held a 2-0 lead on Homeruns by Bryce Harper and Augustin Ramirez HR (fresh off the IL)  was a solo shot.    Enter the new Phillies bullpen (not exactly shut down artists) and the Dodgers put up the picket fence with solo runs in the 8th 9th and 10th  A Sohei Otani solo shot gives the Dodgers a 3-2 lead.  Corbin Carroll leads off the bottom of the 10th with a solo shot to tie it.   Onto the bottom of the 12th (after two shut out innings from Spencer Bivens) With two on 1 out Corbin Carroll connects for a three run bomb to send the Phillie faithful home happy!
