Phillies Playing Like Contenders: Take Three From Braves and 17-11!

The Philles and Braves got together for a Sunday Memorial Day Weekend Showdown!

GAME 1

Kyle Gibson vs Jack Flaherty

The Braves opened the scoring with a Teoscar Hernandez double in the first.  A Fransico Lindor Triple and error (O’Neil Cruz) plated the Phillies two runs in the top of the second. The Phillies scored two more runs being aggressive.  Singles by Lindor and Marsh to start the top of the fourth, the Phillies then do a double steal and the Bryce Harper plates them on a single past the drawn in Josh Bell. That was all the Kyle Gibson would need.  He went 7 innings striking out 8 and scattering 8 hits.  Brent Suter nailed the nailed for his 9th save

GAME 2

Max Scherzer vs Joe Musgrove

In what could be Max Scherzer’s last start in the KPSL, he made it a gem.  HE went 6 1/3 hitless innings striking out 8.  On his 21st batter TeOscar Hernandez took him deep.  The Phillies still lead 3-1.  Enter the bottom of the ninth and Brent Suter.  A Walk to Happ a walk to TeOscar Hernandez and then BOOM, a three run walk off by Kyle Schwarber and the Braves win.

GAME 4

Aaron Nola vs Seth Lugo

His only blemish was a Jose Altuve Solo homerun in the third inning.  Seth Lugo went six innings and scattered 8 hits but did allow 3 runs.  Bottom of the ninth the Phillies lead 3-1.  Enter Brent Suter, he walks Kyle Schwarber and then a double to Pete Alonso.  After an intentional walk to Pinch Hitter Jorge Soler to load the bases, the Phillies bring in Alexis   Diaz, (cuz you know its not like he has walks on his card) Pinch Hitter Brendan Rogers lines out, Perdomo Strikes out and pinch hitter Yasmani Grandal weakly grounds out to Diaz to end the game.
