Rockies Combine No-Hitter To Lock Up Sweep Of Nationals

I began playing SOMBB in 1990, during my freshman year of college. I've played every year of my life since then, and I am thinking I have played about 4,000 games where I actively managed a team. And I've never thrown a no-hitter. Got within 1/3 of an inning with Al Leiter long ago...got somewhere into the 9th with David Cone in the 90s....and within 6 outs with Tyler Glasnow this year. But I've never finished one off. And I was not expecting a historic series against the tough-as-nails Nationals. So, of course...
GAME 1
Rockies - 7
Nationals - 4
The Rocks would use long balls by Kim and Duvall, plus a 3-hit 3rd inning, to stake themselves to a 5-0 lead. But Justin Steele and then Buck Farmer tried to give all back, and by the time Seiya Suzuki hit an RBI groundout in the bottom of the 7th, it was 5-4. But the hottest guy in tow, Matt Olson, continued his bashing with another homer in the 8th, and Daniel Hudson and Joe Jimenez kept the lid sealed tight.

GAME 2
Rockies - 16
Nationals - 10

How good is a 6-run 10th inning? Well, I can't tell you, but I can say an 8-run 10th is plenty good. The Rocks trailed 2-0 through 4 frames, but then cranked out a 5-run 5th against Dylan Cease, and would add runs in the 6th to go up 7-2. But it was not enough. The Nats clawed back, and a pinch-hit Tyler O'Neill 3-run homer in the 7th knotted it at 8. No more blood during regulation. Then the Rocks go crazy, sending 12 men up in the 10th, capped by homers from Tyrone Taylor and Fernando Tatis. The Nats bring some 2-out rally vibes with a walk and two hits to make it 16-10, but Michael Lorenzen Ks Jared Triolo to finally end it.

GAME 3
Rockies - 6
Nationals - 0
The Rocks went doen 1-2-3 in the 1st. Then Jurickson Profar led off the game getting a 1-10 HR, 11-20 double shot off of Glasnow's card. He rolls high and gets a double. This would be the Nats' final hit of the series. Which is insanely terrible luck for Jeff, as his lineup is stout. Glasnow goes 8 innings in his final start. We don't score anything for him until the 6th, but we add runs in the 6th, 7th, and 8th frames.

Note - HS Kim had a 1-game injury in game 2 which I completely forgot about for this game. His was in my preset lineup and played...so it is a violation. Kim is now out 12 games starting with game 4! To add a tiny insult to the injury, he made two errors and basically contributed nothing in this one.
GAME 4
Rockies - 3
Nationals - 0
Blake Snell came into this game with 6 1/3 innings left, and I needed him for two starts. So inning 7 was a dilemma, as Snell had face 22 batters through 6, allowing 4 walks, a HBP, and no hits! We sighed and did the right thing. Snell comes out up 3-0. Payamps, Alvarado, Hudson, and Jimenez take it from there. And they let up just 2 more walks (both by Payamps in the 7th). Jimenez goes strikeout, ballpark single roll that Jeff misses (1-3 shot), strikeout in the 9th. History is upon us. And, just like baseball in 2025, my first-ever no hitter is a anticlimactic team effort.
WP - Snell LP - Fedde SV - Jimenez HR - none
Thanks to Jeff for being really gracious about the no-hitter, and through a series where the dice were mostly cruel to him.
This season continues to be a scramble. Rocks are 42-30 now. Nationals are 41-27, still the 2-seed now but with the competition hot on their heels.
