Dodgers Sweep Dbacks In Battle Of The Santora's

A Thursday night battle between father vs. son.  The Dbacks vs Dodgers has been an important series on the calendar and this year could have looked better for both teams.  Both teams had visions of making the playoffs. Both teams have been riding a roller coaster all season.  The Dbacks are finally hitting the decent, but the Josh Santora Dodgers are still in the picture, someway, somehow.  Could this Santora Series be a difference maker? Arizona flies out from Pittsburgh to LA to find out.

Game 1 Dodgers 6 Dbacks 3

Arizona has a 2-1 lead after three innings, lead by Ezequiel Tovar’s two RBI singles. The Dodger bats would awaken in the sixth and eighth innings, scoring five runs in the process.  Amed Rosario would smack a 2-run double to begin the offensive explosion and eventual victory. Drew Rasmussen would have 10 strikeouts and a complete game in this one.

Game 2 Dodgers 4 Dbacks 3

Los Angeles would do all their damage against Ryan Feltner in the first three innings. Shohei Ohtani would hit a solo home run to make it a 4-1 game after three. Ty France would hit a solo bomb in the fifth for Arizona, but it would not be enough as the LA pen would take over and silence the Dbacks bats.

Game 3 Dodgers 7 Dbacks 1

This game was 2-1 LA after six innings.  Othani and DelCastillo would hit solo home runs for the Dodgers, while Alex Verdugo would hit a solo shot for Arizona. Dodgers would unload on the Dbacks pen in the 8th playing situational baseball and getting five runs on five hits. Brandon Phaadt went six strong innings for the victory.

Game 4 Dodgers 4 Dbacks 1

LA was looking for a sweep and the Dbacks at this point were looking to get back to Arizona.  The game was scoreless until the fifth, and the LA offense went off on Frankie “K” Montas. A leadoff triple by Spencer Steer, followed by singles, walks and stolen bases ended up a 4 run inning. Montas did have eight strikeouts in five innings for his efforts. Dbacks tried to make it interesting in the top of the 9th as Nolan Gorman would hit a two-run home run to make it a 4-2 game, but Tovar would record his 99th strikeout of the season to end the potential comeback.

LA would earn the sweep in this one in some well earned victories.  They are still on the outside looking in and need to stay hot for any serious chance.  The Dbacks meanwhile have lost seven straight and head home to take on the KPSL’s best in Cincinnati next week.

Dodgers Drew Rasmussen has a 10 Strikeout performance against the Dbacks.
