The Arizona Diamondbacks would host the Washington Nationals in what would be the final series for the Dbacks. It’s a season they would like to forget. After posting a 20-24 record at the All-Star break, they have slid to 11th place in the standings. In the meantime, the Nationals have been flirting with the Reds for the top spot in the KPSL, but a recent slide for them has placed them with the pack fighting for a spot. Would this series be a spot to solidify the Nationals as a playoff team, or would the Diamondbacks play a spoiler role?
Game 1
Nationals 9
Dbacks 6
Plenty of offense on both sides, with Washington jumping to a 7-1 lead after five innings. Lamont Wade would lead the game with a solo home run and CJ Abrams would hit a 3-run double to lead the scoring. The Dbacks would cut the score to 7-5 with a 5-run sixth, led by a 2-run double by Ty France. Nationals would answer back in the seventh led by an Abrahms Triple, en route to a 2-run inning to be enough for the win.

HR – Wade
Game 2
Nationals 6
Dbacks 3
Another game where the Nationals bats jumped out early. It would be 5-0 after two innings and 6-0 after four. Jurickson Profar and Max Muncy hit solo home runs during this stretch. Erick Fedde was throwing great and then ran into some problems in the 6th and 7th innings, when the Dbacks would plate three runs. In the end, this game was all Nationals.

LP – Civale
SV – Romero
HR – Profar, Muncy
Game 3
Nationals 4
Dbacks 1
In this game, the Dbacks would score first, led by an Eziquiel Toval solo shot in the second to make it a 1-0 game. Nationals would tie the game in the sixth on a Tyler Stevenson 1-run double. Washington would finally break open the game in the 8th and 9th innings, with Seiya Suzuki smashing a 2-run home run to secure the 4-1 victory.

HR – Tovar, Suzuki
Game 4
Dbacks 5
Nationals 2
The final game of the 2025 season for the Dbacks. It was also Charlie Blackmon’s last game in the KPSL. Blackmon had played for several teams in his career and has a 2020 MVP award with the Rockies in the process. But he found his way with Arizona and has played most of the year as a DH and Right Fielder. In today’s daytime matchup, he sees himself leading off. There are plenty of fans in attendance to see his final game and some holding up “Thank You Charlie” signs. There are a few purple shirts in attendance as well.
The Nats bats would go silent in the first with Andrew Abbott on the hill. We go to the bottom of the first, with Charlie Blackmon at the plate. The roar of the crowd puts a short stoppage of play, to where Blackmon tips his cap to everyone. He then properly hits a double bringing out more applause from the attendees. He would score on a Santiago Espinal single, giving the Dbacks a 1-0 lead. Blackmon would get another run in on a fielders choice in the second, making it 2-0 Arizona. Nats would tie the score at two with a Matt Chapman 2-run blast in the fourth inning. Dbacks would answer with two runs in the fifth. Blackmon would walk in the inning and eventually score on an Espinal Sac Fly. Ty France would hit a 1-run single to score the second run of the inning. Dbacks bullpen would silence the Nats bats the rest of the game, while Alex Verdugo would as an insurance run on a single to make it a 5-2 win to close out the season.
WP – Abbott
LP – Sanchez
SV – Bednar
HR – Chapman
Congratulations to Charlie Blackmon would finishing his career as a member of the Dbacks. He would get a hit in every game of the series to conclude his season. We wish him the best in his post KPSL future.
